Objective

"Project SCALER (Scalable Charge-transfer Artificial Lattices for Enhanced Reproducibility) aims to advance and democratize quantum materials engineering. In an era where quantum technologies promise revolutionary advancements, the need for reliable, scalable methods to study and manipulate quantum materials is critical. Our research objective is to develop a reproducible platform for creating artificial superlattices in two-dimensional materials, making advanced quantum research more accessible to the broader scientific community. Current approaches like moiré superlattices and cold atom systems, while valuable, face limitations in scalability and real-world applicability. SCALER combines two main techniques to address these challenges: 1. Refining high-resolution electron-beam lithography methods. 2. Utilizing thermal probe lithography to create ""charge-transfer superlattices."" This two-year project, hosted at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), will involve close collaboration with experts in nanofabrication, materials science, and quantum physics. We aim to achieve sub-20 nm resolution in patterning, demonstrate charge-transfer superlattices, and explore new quantum states in engineered 2D materials. The expected scientific impact includes advancing fundamental quantum research. By focusing on scalability and reproducibility, SCALER aims to provide tools that researchers across various institutions can reliably use and build upon, potentially accelerating progress in the field of quantum materials. For me as a researcher, this fellowship represents a crucial step towards becoming an independent research leader. It will enhance my expertise in advanced lithography techniques, project management, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The training provided by DTU, including courses in teaching and grant writing, will further develop my skills as a well-rounded scientist capable of leading innovative research projects in the future.
