Objective

"This project, titled ""Inhomogeneity Modelling of Reclaimed Asphalt for Circular Economy in Transport Infrastructure"" (IMRA4CE), aims to provide interdisciplinary training for the talented young researcher Dr. Quan Liu. The research will focus on the modelling of inhomogeneity in reclaimed asphalt (RA) with the goal of promoting circular economy principles within transport infrastructure. Key outcomes from IMRA4CE include: (1) elucidation of the mechanisms governing asphalt inhomogeneity; (2) development of innovative fatigue models that consider RA inhomogeneity, and (3) integration of these novel fatigue models into industry practices to optimize design and improve fatigue prediction. IMRA4CE offers comprehensive training to the Fellow, nurturing a promising expert in pavement circular economy with interdisciplinary expertise. This encompasses expertise in pavement mechanics, waste management, physical modelling and computer-aided technology, data modelling and analysis, materials characterisation, and industrial application. In addition to the above, the Fellow will receive interdisciplinary training in project management, intellectual property protection, teaching and supervision, networking, and communication. Upon completion of the training, the Fellow will be equipped to independently lead research projects in Europe."
