Objective

Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface (RIS)-assisted integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) is emerging as a key technology for future wireless systems, particularly in monitoring and managing network-connected unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) with line-of-sight (LOS) links. ISAC transmitters can use echo signals to detect the angle of arrival of unauthorized UAVs and leverage channel information to enhance secrecy rates. Motivated by these unique capabilities, we aim to optimize the performance of RIS-assisted secure ISAC systems. Our objectives are: 1) to develop a RIS-based collaborative sensing mechanism to mitigate asynchronous reception effects and improve sensing performance; 2) to design methods for unauthorized target detection and sensing and communication (SAC) channel parameter prediction based on perceived information; 3) to create algorithms for joint optimization of resource allocation, RIS phase shifts, artificial noise (AN), and UAV trajectories to maximize the secure transmission rate of ISAC systems. Achieving these objectives will provide immense benefits to the wireless industry and sectors advancing 5G/6G technologies. The Fellow anticipates that the project outcomes will reduce network deployment costs for mobile network operators by 30%, while enabling high-quality mobile data services for citizens, boosting the digital economy, and creating new jobs.
