Objective
The forest-based bioeconomy is a vital pillar of the European Union’s green transition, offering renewable biomass, critical ecosystem services, and the foundation for innovative, high-value bio-based products. Yet, this sector is increasingly challenged by ecological vulnerabilities and climate-induced risks, which demand sophisticated approaches to forest monitoring, assessment, and adaptive management. Supported by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions programme, DP-FOBI addresses these pressing challenges by advancing interdisciplinary research at the intersection of ecology, technology, economics, and policy. Through a comprehensive and tailored doctoral training programme, DP-FOBI fosters the academic and professional growth of early-stage researchers, empowering them with the skills, knowledge and cross-sectoral perspectives needed to drive sustainable innovation in the forest-based bioeconomy.
