Objective
One of the key challenges in modern condensed matter physics is understanding how exotic quantum phases—such as non-Fermi liquids (NFLs)—emerge from the collective behavior of many interacting particles. These states underpin phenomena like high-temperature superconductivity and quantum criticality, and yet, remain poorly understood due to the complexity and limited tunability of relevant materials. This VIKINGS project (Versatile Implementation of Kondo Impurities in Nanowire Geometries for Simulation), aims to overcome these barriers by establishing a new, highly controllable platform for studying NFL physics using semiconductor nanowire-based quantum circuits. Building on recent progress in charge Kondo systems, the proposed architecture integrates superconducting leads with electrostatically defined quantum impurities in hybrid nanowires, allowing unprecedented access to NFL regimes under clean, tuneable, and reproducible conditions. By combining precise gate control, thermodynamic measurements, and radio-frequency spectroscopy, the platform will enable direct exploration of NFL signatures—such as entropy scaling, anomalous charge dynamics, and emergent symmetries—under experimentally tractable conditions. This project not only opens new experimental pathways for understanding strongly correlated quantum matter but also open the door to non-Abelian anyons operation, particles that are neither bosons nor fermions, and central to topological quantum computation
