Objective
To boost the development of DC technologies, the SET Plan Implementation Working Group on Direct Current Technologies (DCT IWG) was established, to create a vision, support the EU in its sustainability goals, and in particular through enabling Direct Current Technologies. It delineates a Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) by identifying priorities and enhancing cooperation, collaboration, and coordination between stakeholders, and a Common Implementation and Investment Plan (CIIP) for deployment of DC technologies. Input for the SET Plan is from voluntary work by the National Representatives and the Industry & Academic stakeholders. There is currently no ETIP or formal industry organisation supporting the DCT IWG. Current organisational support to the the DCT IWG is provided by DCforEU, a Horizon Europe CSA. DCforEU has guided and supported the DCT IWG in the development of Strategic direction and roadmaps. The CSA broadened industrial and academic participation within the group to develop strategic roadmaps preparing a consistent R&I framework. DCforEU provides focused external communication to Government Agencies and the Public to justify proposals. This Coordination and Support Action project, DCforEU2, is designed to deliver continuity in the work done so far and to facilitate the work of the DCT IWG and achieve its outcomes and to ensure the full support in preparation of the SRIA and the CIIP as inputs to the next iterations of the SET Plan. To accomplish this, DCforEU2 will provide organisational and administrative support to the DCT IWG, and coordinate and communicate with relevant stakeholders. DCforEU2 will evaluate potential future structures for the DCT IWG which may align more closely with the described revised SET Plan process of Vision-SRIA-CIIP. DCforEU2 disseminates outcomes of the DCT IWG for wider acceptance of the SRIA and CIIP continuing provision of societal engagement raising the awareness and significance of DC technologies.
