Objective

OASIS-ALI aims to tackle the persistent underprediction of sulfate during haze episodes by resolving pH-dependent, interfacial S(IV) oxidation that couples sulfur-dioxide uptake and evaporation with electron- and radicals-driven pathways at droplet surfaces. Hosted at CNRS-IRCELYON (CARE) under Dr Christian George, Dr Yuting Lyu will integrate flow-tube experiments, single-droplet aerosol optical tweezers, and multiphase kinetic modelling using the kinetic multi-layer model of surface and bulk (KM-SUB). The laboratory–model loop will yield rate and uptake parameters with uncertainties and an interface-explicit mechanism. Case-study evaluation will quantify reductions in bias and error, constraining sulfate production under atmospheric conditions.
