Objective

REVOLV will deliver the first industrial-grade volumetric bioprinting platform, combining AI-driven precision, GMP-compliant human-derived resins, and seamless microplate automation. This next-generation system achieves ultra-fast (<10s per construct), contact-free production of complex, functional tissues while maintaining cell viability above 90%. This innovation addresses long-standing limitations of conventional bioprinting, as slow layer-by-layer deposition, poor reproducibility, and limited vascularization, transforming volumetric bioprinting into a scalable solution for pharmaceutical R&D, toxicology, and regenerative medicine. To achieve this breakthrough, REVOLV combines advanced hardware, novel biomaterials, and a rigorous validation pathway. The platform integrates AI-powered calibration to guarantee reproducible, high-fidelity printing across diverse geometries and resins, while newly developed human-derived supramolecular resins ensure both regulatory alignment and biological performance. These innovations will be validated through functional liver constructs produced in microplate format, directly demonstrating relevance for pharmaceutical workflows. Alongside the technical development, the consortium will establish a clear route to commercialization and regulatory acceptance, ensuring that the system is not only scientifically robust but also ready for large-scale adoption. REVOLV will achieve TRL 6 by demonstrating system integration in pharma-like environments, anchoring a commercialization pathway led by Readily3D SA with strong contributions from UMC Utrecht and INsociety. The outcome will be a GMP-ready, automated, and animal-free 3D bioprinting ecosystem that reduces reliance on animal testing, strengthens European leadership in advanced manufacturing, and accelerates safer, more predictive drug development worldwide.
